Tell us a bit about yourself?:

Im Stephen, 23 years old, From Ackworth, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, but i live in Stockport, Manchester with a few friends now.

How have Rollerblade been treating you?:

Rollerblade treat me good, there always sending me places, sending me whatever i ask for, and there always happy with anything i do for them. So all good there.

How about your other sponsors ? anything new going on?:

Just Kaltik, Conor is a saint, fantastic guy and im more than happy to rep his company. They have managed to design the best frame i have ever skated in nearly 16 years, they have hit the nail on the head, its a Perfect frame.

How are the Solos holding up, there was a wee problem with the buckles, but I heard they fixed it, did that ever bother you ?:

The skates are perfect too, i never really used the buckle so it wasn’t really an issue for me. But yeah, they managed to sort the problem and they have also started using a strap instead of the buckle which works really well, its lighter and never catches. the material of the boot and soul have both been changed for the new line, it works really well, the soul plates slide so fast on anything.

After killing it all day on your skates what do you like to do to chill out?:

I just enjoy having time to relax and chill with my friends. really enjoy shopping, and im really in to modified cars, so i spend a bit of time on my car.

What is your set up just now ?:

RB Solo Era, with grey cuffs, turquoise buckles and bolts, a proto-type of my Kaltik Flat set-up frames, my ukskate wheel, but i dyed them blue, so they look pretty mental at the moment.

What can you tell us about the Kaltik frames ? Release dates, Other models etc:

To be honest, there’s not much i can say at the moment, just only good things to come ;-)

Favorite skate ever ?:

Salomon st90 2 with white widebodies and white frames, and TRS Solo Transparent.

Got any tour dates coming up:

In April from Holland to Milan, not sure on the dates though, check www.teamtrs.com for details.

Any events you’re attending this year? :

most probably, i enjoy the traveling, and really enjoy the session-ing, plus its always good to skate somewhere new.

How about DVD's and such ? what can we look out for.:

Iv never been in any DVDs, hahaha, even ones that have been made in my area. In fact iv seen clips in some DVDs from days when i was there skating as well, hahaha. Ooooohhh well.

Who would you say is an 'uprising star' in the rolling scene, at the moment ? :

Romain Godenaire is amazing. To be honest, there’s a lot of skaters popping up everywhere, so its a little hard to say. Andy Gilbert is doing well for himself. Id say its pretty hard for up and coming skaters in the UK, most of the sponsors and brands are more bothered about sponsoring people who already have a name for themselves instead of finding sick new talent that needs the push. Bit of a shame to be honest.

some questions from some Rollernews members now.

Darkhorse: has it helped skating one of the best parks in the uk to get where you are? (does you think you would be where you are now, if you didn’t skate rampworx?) :

I don’t really skate rampworx that much, it was a hour and 45 min drive from where i used to live and 45 min drive from where i live now. The guys there have done alot for me in the past and i thank them a lot for that. especially big Rob, Matt Dearden and Paul Perry. but my local is Ukskate.

A.Styles: if you weren't sponsored by Rollerblade, would you still skate their skates ?:

Rollerblade, without a doubt, there exactly what i want in a skate. nothing comes close to them in my opinion.

Rando: I'm just interested in seeing his TRS set ups, they always look really good in vids. I want to see close ups. are you going to get a pro skate?:

Hahaha, thanks. I’m not getting a pro skate, or at least i haven’t heard or been told anything about it. i have a folder on my computer of most of the set-ups iv ever have, and i really enjoy making a unique skate that no one else has, so if you want to see them, let me know, and al put some of the pics of my old set-ups online.

Sequoia: What are your favorite parks or Spots in the world ?:

Thats a hard one, erm, i really don’t think i have one, i just enjoy skating in general, no matter where i am.

Who would you like to thank ?:

Mum, Dad, my brother, Jenna Downing, Jordan Maders, Steve Bass, Tom Hyser, Sven Boekhorst, Rob Godfry, Matt Dearden, and anyone that has helped me in my life, Thanks to them all.

Steve was kind enough to take some time out to do a quick interview with us, check it out!
